Well they sold their soul to the major label (geffen) and changed almost everything about the band (including most of the members and the entire style/songs) just to make it big. The bigtime a&r exec john kalodner was the guy who "molded them into something better". This after the band put out a few commercial flops before geffen/kalodner got a hold of them...> But people who know kalodner know that he ruins bands creatively...> Well whitesnake showed they had zero creative integrity. But hey, they got a few huge radio hits where they were shoved down our throats on radio and mtv 24/7 back then. They sold about 12 million copies on their "Breakthrough (sellout) album" and then a few million less on the next album only to have geffen become dissatisfied with less sales and decide to not see them as viable anymore. Coverdale was always an overrated egomaniacal singer who's voice bored me to sleep...> And personally, I would say avoid EVERYTHING this band ever did. BUt obviously the idiotic pop masses will eat up shit if it's put in front of them and marketed/imaged well...>Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06587978930918095188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-605915901305569177.post-64496260724199107552013-05-01T22:41:04.898-05:002013-05-01T22:41:04.898-05:00If you look at the tracklisting of both CD's (...If you look at the tracklisting of both CD's (the second CD is outtakes and soundchecks from that tour), they are playing HEAVILY on new material, as 7 of the 8 tracks on the bonus disc are from the last two studio albums...and two of the other tracks on the main CD are a guitar solo and a drum solo, so I wouldn't count those as being "old". Also, there are few current fans of the band who would recognize "Fool For Your Loving" as coming from an album other than Slip Of The Tongue. Not arguing...just trying to explain where I was coming from. Thanks for reading!
arttieTHE1manpartyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03881287029486916397noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-605915901305569177.post-59296593562542263712013-05-01T21:40:06.717-05:002013-05-01T21:40:06.717-05:00Only 4 newer songs (1/3 of the album) and Still of...Only 4 newer songs (1/3 of the album) and Still of the Night is the last track. And "Fool For Your Loving" was originally a UK hit in 1980. It didn't fare so well as a single on SOTT

I can't comment on the quality of the recordings but it seems to be a solid (if abbreviated) hit filled set!
